But I saw in a e-mail that there were some new California snow story songs so that I must look up. Otherwise I can not stop listening to Jedi mind tricks - “Uncommon valor: a vietnam story” , well the whole album. I listened to them a lot around the time of their first albums, at the end of 06 they released a great album, their fifth, from which this song is. It features R.A. The Rugged man and he gives me the best rapping I have heard in a long while. Not some mtv shit, the real shit! This is where you hear the difference between skill and commercialism. The whole song is just pure greatness, best song of 2006 with out a doubt!!! (if you like the movie Full metal jacket you will recognize some things…)

But I really do not feel like doing it at the moment, but I have scribbled down the titles, but to find pictures, write here… well it takes time and time is not something I have at the moment. I have shit loads to do and at the moment I find myself listening to those other genres that I love, which would not really fit here (not that I would care whether they would fit or not, that would be narrowing yourself… I would go nuts if I only could listen to one genre). Well, anyhow… just hang in there, I think I have rss so…

The response she has received on her song at various medias show the strength that lies in Nixon, Roger is truly a pop wizard!

Sally Shapiro - “Anorak christmas”
The song is available on a 12″!! I certainly ordered a copy as soon as I saw that.

Finally the guys have put up a new song called “White mantle king” at myspace, it has been one of my favorites among the new songs that they have played live. And right now I find myself listening to it again and again. You should too! It is a very nice track and gives a hint of what is to come when their debut album will be released next year, dare I say that it will be one of the top albums of 2007?

Cats on fire @ myspace

Take a visit at their homepage as well for more songs, lyrics (well worth a read as well). You have the link here under “links”.

Some other guys that have been buzzing for a while now and that some blogs that I read have mentioned, and whom I had the privilege of seeing live a couple of weeks back (and yes, they sounded just as good live!!). They are called Days, at first I thought it was a gang of 30ish something men but that was not the case. Visit their myspace and listen to the lovely tunes

Days @ myspace

Records to be released on the reborn Shelflife (what a delight!) and the new label Lavender. Lavender by the way just put out their first release which was with Afraid of stairs.

Well, that was all for now, seems that lately the things that have been mentioned here have been done so in a haste. Loads to etc etc etc. Who cares, lovely songs by lovely bands, that is what matters!=)

That song was Silver Screen - “Won’t you ever know”, I am struck speechless! It is just SO SO SO SO SO SO SO GOOOOOOD!! At this moment sitting here having listened to it on repeat I have to say that it is the best song I have heard this year!

As I said, I am speechless. Pay a visit to Chris Millers myspace site and listen to the songs there, that particular song is not up there but the ones that are, they are mighty fine as well. Though, you should buy the album just to get the chance to listen to “Won’t you ever know”!! If you have ever liked something that I have mentioned here, well, then this is a MUST HAVE.

Once again this guy Matttias who has (together with his flatmate) the club Cosy Den, has brought some poplove into my life. This time it is The Bridal Shop, I met the girl Ida from the band at “I’m from Bräkne-Hoby” this summer and later on I bumped into her on the train on my way to Cosy Den, where she was also headed. Well enough of my anecdotes….

Their song, “From seas” is just pure greatness. At first I listened to it on repeat and left for school with a big smile on my face, then I told a friend that “with better recordings this would be a big hit!” But the more I listen to it (at least five times a day), I just think “hey! this is already a hit!!”. Just marvelous. Gives me a warm buzz every time, so become their friend at myspace and send them lovelettters, write them songs, hey, marry them!

The Bridal Shop @ myspace

There might be some things coming up here in just a short while, some records and it is beginning to be that time of year when one should do a “this caught my heart”-list, where The Bridal Shop will appear, as you probably already guessed.

Should maybe have mentioned that you should give “Lend me your heart” a listen as well, not as good but not at all bad!

People usually say that “don’t play with somebodys feelings/heart”, but instead they should be more concerned about “playing with somebodys mind”. This is something that happens around us all the time, this with critical thinking is not something that we learn. Not at home, not at school, not at work, basically nowhere… Not even in some secluded political group in your town, because even there they play with your mind. You are given the rights and the wrongs, black and white. But do you not miss colour in your life? This might be something that is a burden to carry, but an insight that can give you twice the strength and a much more elevated feel of satisfaction. That is at least what I like to believe.

Society, media etc etc are feeding you and you just sit there and swallow, almost screaming for more. Like yesterday, I was watching the telly and they showed from H&M, they hade some designers make an “exclusive” collection (not 2-3 of each garment, no… the commersial “exclusive”) and there were people actually standing in line, waiting, for hours! Just to get their hands on something that they have to pay for, H&M are usually not that expensive but as it was an “exclusive” collection they propably cost a bit more… What is going on in these minds? Standing in line, freezing, just to get to throw away money. When the doors opened they rushed in and started almost fighting over garments, have you seen the movie “Spirited away”? Well, it was like when her parents get turned into pigs (the reason they get turned into pigs). It was mostly sad to see, and especially to hear these people talk. So controlled by societys wheels and the huge commersial powers that are lid upon us constantly.

Another thing that annoyed me to bits was wathing a morning program and they had some philosofer and some other people there talking about something called “slow”. This “slow” is that we today should wind down, take it more easy etc etc. Cellphones, e-mail and other technical things are putting more and more stress upon us and the society (work and so on…(mostly capitalistic powers)) are demanding more and more from us, so if people continue like this they will get burned out. The host then asked, “ah, so we should take it more slowly, not do things constantly, not just work and bla bla bla” and I thought to myself, is this person 1) just plain dumb?! 2) making himself dumb so that the dumb (non thinkers) at home can understand. ? I vote for #2, but the sad thing about it is that that it is how media see the peple at home sitting wathing. And the even more sad thing is that they might be right. Most of this “slow” discussion were thoughts that I thought were clear to everyone, thought that everone has had. But over and over again I get proved wrong (when I talk to people about these kind of things). Usually people say “hey, you’re right”, the thoughts are not that foreign to them, it is just that they never allow themselves to think them. Somebody is playing with their mind.

Yesteday I went to the cinema, sadly I was the only one who bought a ticket for that movie and earlier this week when I was there I asked the girl at the register how long they were going to show that particular movie and she said “well not that long, maybe two weeks more or so, it’s been selling bad”. It is sad, well, it is not a movie that has a lot of money and a lot of commerisal powers behind it, I sometimes just wish that people at least could have a mind of their own when it comes to culture. The movie was “Dark horse”, a black and white such, , directed by the one who made the wonderful “Noi albinoi”. I will not tell you that much about the movie, just one particular moment.
Daniel (the main character) is sitting in his car with his girlfriend who is aslepp, they are on their way to the clinic to make an abortion. When they come to a bridge the bridge starts to open up to let some boats through and Daniel curses and sais “…we don’t have time for this!”, and as they do not have any option they have to sit there and wait. Daniel starts to calm down and he is starting to turn to look at his girlfriend, my first thought was the he would say “fuck this! (in a positive tone)” but that did not happen. When he turned you could see through his eyes as he looked at his girlfriend there at the seat where she is leaned against the window sleeping, and she was in colour. Just marvelous. My interpetation of it is that if those boats had not come, they would have gone to the clinic and made the abortion, but now when they came they gave Daniel some time to stop and think. This made him see her in another light (thus the colour) and this brought a smile to his face. This may have turned out to be a turning point in his life. But the thing about it is the message, stop sometimes and think.

A lot of talk from me now, I have not even read it so I do not know how it sounds, maybe I will read it later on today and maybe it will get erased or edited then, that remains to be seen….

So I thought that I would mention the indie-mp3 blog since I do not even have a link to it here… I kind of gave up on the links some time ago. But I have to say that there are only a few sites that I visit often, indie-mp3 being among the most frequently visited.
